Hey family!!! I wish I had more time to write to you about my amazing week, but unfortunately, I do not. Just know, this week was good, and we are working hard over here in Woodlands!
I'm sorry there's no pictures...next week for sure! It's just the luck of the draw what computer you get. I tried to go to the one last week that worked, but it was taken today. Sorry.
Here are some highlights of my week!
We went to Ikea last P-day, and I got to buy a Christmas tree! Now we have a tiny one in our apartment so we are all prepared for the holidays.
We taught Z W this week, and as I studied in the morning, I felt prompted to read a scripture. Within minutes of meeting with Z W, I used the scripture. It was total inspiration! Thanks Heavenly Father.
Tuesday and Wednesday were hard...we weren't finding anyone and we weren't teaching as much as we would have liked. Contacting isn't exactly Sister Fuglistalers favorite missionary activity either, but we went to a nice beach side to contact. It was hot and hard, and we didn't have much success. We saw monkeys though, and they did try to eat Sister Fuglistaler's ice cream! But, we then went to a member's house to celebrate Deepavali. The lesson we had prepared in the morning was unapplicable as more members of the ward were there than expected - so our missionary lesson went out the window. Basically, we had to teach the Bishop and a lot of other members impromptu! After such a hard day, I went to the bathroom and silently prayed to Heavenly Father to help us have a good lesson. I told Him that I trusted Him, and that we could really use some help with this lesson so we could gain the trust of the members. I ended up feeling like we should talk about Jacob 5: 70-72. I read it, and as we spoke about the Atonement and trusting Christ in missionary work, the spirit was stronger than just about any other time in my mission. I started crying...obviously...and I saw a few other people getting emotional. Sister Fuglistaler said the spirit was so strong when I spoke, and I know it's because I had prayed and asked Heavenly Father for help.
The rest of the week, I tried to apply what I learned from that lesson. Trust God, trust Christ. Let them do their work. Just trust that things will work out, don't scramble to make them work out. I think I was doing that because I wanted Sister Fuglistaler to have such a good experience as a missionary, that I was trying to rely too much on other things to help us teach. It's when I truly turned myself over to God that miracles happened.
We have 2 new investigators this week, which is a big deal, and R is still really ready for baptism. Y P came to Woodlands ward, and it was such a special experience! Her little girl is adorable, and I'm grateful that she was able to be with all the wonderful members.
This week, I've been praying more fervently, so I can trust God more. I would suggest it to anyone, as when you really pray with real intent, and desire to do God's will, God always answers. "Ask, and ye shall receive, knock and it shall be opened unto you." Just make sure you have pure faith and desire, and I know it will all work out.
I love you all! Thanks for your continued prayers and support in my behalf!!!
Love,
Sister Crabb
Here are Alyssa's answers to some questions we asked her:
Why did the district leader ask you to shout "Hurrah for Israel"?
Just because we were working on being positive.......it was really fun :)
Did R get home from India yet?
Yes. She just went home to be with her mom for Deepavali - Indian holiday, google it!
Has her job officially ended and is she concerned about finding a new one?
SOOO close. November 8th. And, not yet, but she isn't concerned. She's pretty sure she will get one. She is almost 100 percent sure she can just be a normal teacher again.
I think it's interesting she is separated from her husband for so long - will she see him when she is in India?
Not sure...we need to ask her on that...they may have broken up...not sure though. And, it's just her fiance.
I thought Y P was in your Woodlands ward....did you get to teach her because the Bedok ward or area wasn't opened yet when you started working with her?
She is in our area. Her husband was baptized in Bedok ward, so they wanted to start there. It ended up being really good though that they came to our ward on Sunday! They are just great. I love their little girl so much! She is 2 and likes to play with my name tag. I'll get a picture of her wearing it and send it to you :)
I think Sister Fuglistaler looks a lot like Traci Stone! It looks like you were able to send us pictures from your camera?
No...Sister Fuglistaler's camera. And yah! She does!!! I want to hear Traci's comments about this... :)
Also, I'm glad I'm missing this football season :)
